IIT Roorkee has its roots in the Roorkee College which was set up in 1847. The college and thereafter technical university laid the foundation of modern engineering education and the use of civil engineering practices in the infrastructure development of the country. On September 21, 2001, the university was converted into IIT. It has 18 academic departments, one academic centre and 7 academic service centres, and three centre of excellence. The IIT Roorkee have about 7000 students and 400 faculty members. The institute is involved in various international projects in the field of water infrastructure and has MoU signed with various European Organizations and Universities such as DAAD, ESTP France, KTH Sweden, University of Applied Sciences, Dresden Germany etc.
Role in the project
IITR will lead the implementation of pilots 2 and 7 from Indian side in WP1, and lead WP2 of the proposal. It further will contribute to WPs 4, 5 and 6.
