ABOUT
Work Plan
SARASWATI 2.0 action plan comprises of 7 Work Packages as discussed below.
Work Package 1:
Ethics Requirements
The aim of the WP is to ensure alignment with the ‘ethics requirements’ of the project. The ‘ethics requirements’ that the project must comply with are included as deliverables in this WP. These include H – Requirement No. 1, POPD – Requirement No. 4 and EPQ – Requirement No. 6.
Work Package 2:
Piloting candidates for BATs
WP2 will pilot candidates for best available technologies for decentralized wastewater treatment with scope for resource/energy recovery and reuse, which have a high potential for India. To achieve this, the project team will design and construct the 10 technologies taking into account the local conditions & needs and technical, legal, environmental and social aspects; and define an initial experimental plan for each of the pilot actions to answer the research questions.
Work Package 3:
Monitoring, experimental work and performance assessment
A comprehensive monitoring and performance assessment including experimental work of all piloted technologies will be implemented in WP3. This involves definition of a common strategy for monitoring the pilot technologies; conducting and where necessary adapting the experimental work plan of WP2, and executing a comprehensive performance assessment of all piloted technologies.
Work Package 4:
Automation and control
WP4 has a threefold plan of action. Among the three is development of recommendations on how to implement basic and advanced control strategies for selected pilots. For advanced control strategies, the WP will implement further adaptation and testing of the hybrid Model Predictive Control (MPC) systems applicable to bioreactors in remote locations robust adjustable to operator capacity, seasonal influence and industrial discharge. Lastly, evaluation of basic and advanced control strategies will be done and recommendation developed for further implementation.
Work Package 5:
Sustainability assessment and identifying BATs
The objective of this WP is to assess the sustainability and identify the best available technologies (BATs) for non-sewered sanitation systems in the European Union (EU) and India. This involves conducting life cycle assessments (LCA), evaluating social acceptance and affordability, addressing institutional and governance issues, ensuring health and safety standards, and assessing operational feasibility. The goal is to identify and promote sustainable sanitation solutions that can effectively address sanitation challenges in both regions.
Work Package 6:
Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation
WP6 aims to ensure efficient dissemination and communication of the project activities and results steered by relevant tools, channels and dedicated actions. It also lays equal emphasis on ensuring successful uptake of project results by empowering extensive stakeholder engagement and development of deep-rooted business partnerships. A broader objective of WP6 is to facilitate societal awareness raising and practical knowledge sharing through inter-stakeholder interaction and management.
Work Package 7:
Project Management
This WP performs all management related tasks for the project
